When is the best time to post on Twitter?

The best time to post on Twitter is weekdays between 6 AM and 9 AM PST for the Hootsuite social media team.

But according to social media engagement expert Nick Martin, click-through rate is the most important metric on Twitter, and Hootsuite's data on this is unequivocal: Tweets posted during UTC and EST business hours generate the best results in terms of clicks and engagement.

Although early morning posts are still ideal (including weekends), Nick Martin prefers to schedule his posts a little later.

"In the morning, people are getting ready to tackle their workday and taking belize phone number data the opportunity to follow the news on their favorite sites and social networks. In the afternoon, as they are focused on their tasks or attending meetings, they have less time to interact with your content."

Nick Martin cautions, however, that focusing on the "best time to post" (i.e., when most of your followers are online) on Twitter can leave you missing out on a portion of your audience in other time zones.

“Consider spreading your content out over the course of the day,” says Nick Martin, “especially if your brand has a global presence. For example, digital marketers in Australia will have the same issues as those on the East Coast of the United States. For those in Australia, New Zealand, India, or anywhere else outside of Europe and North America, we feel the pain, and we’re doing our best to bring you useful content at times that work for you.”

To ensure his tweets reach a wider geographic area, Nick Martin takes care to post at all hours (not just at the best time) and creates advertising campaigns with promoted content targeting other time zones and countries.
