Method 3: Add underline and align text buttons to the classic editor
If you use a classic editor, this method is for you.
You need to install and activate the Advanced Editor Tools plugin. For more details, check out our step-by-step guide on how to install a WordPress plugin.
Once activated, go to the Settings Advanced Editor Tools page from the WordPress admin sidebar. Then, click on the "Classic Editor (TinyMCE)" tab at the top of the page.
You will see a preview of the classic WordPress editor. Below the preview, any unused buttons will be displayed.
Now you need to drag and drop the Underline and Align Text buttons from the Unused Buttons box into the text editor.
Drag the unused buttons you need to the classic editor's toolbar
Once finished, click the "Save Changes" button at the top of the screen to store the new settings.
New formatting buttons are now available in the classic editor toolbar when you create or edit a WordPress blog post or page.
Then, click "Done" to exit the pop-up window.
