Usually, you can just add a reading progress bar to your WordPress blog posts. In this case, we just select "Single Page/Post" in the "Select Template Condition for Progress Bar" setting.

We also selected the "Posts" option in "Choose the post type to apply northeast phone number the progress bar to" because we only want the progress bar to appear on blog posts.

Once you are satisfied with the progress bar settings, click Save Changes.

Now, if you preview your blog on mobile or desktop, you should see a progress bar.

Method 3: Use code to add a reading progress bar
You can also add a reading progress bar to your WordPress website using custom code.

Tutorials often ask you to add code directly into your theme's functions.php file. But we don’t recommend this because the smallest mistake can ruin your website.

We recommend using the WPCode plugin instead. This is the easiest and safest way to add custom code into WordPress without editing core WordPress files.

Plus, you don’t need to be familiar with coding to use it because it comes with a library of ready-made code snippets that you can add to your website in just a few clicks, including one for reading the progress bar.

First, you need to install and activate the free WPCode plugin. If you need help, check out our tutorial on how to install a WordPress plugin.

After activating the plugin, go to the Snippets library from your WordPress dashboard.

From here, search the library for "Scrolling Progress Bar", hover over it, and click the "Use Fragment" button.
