Farmers of Tambov Oblast have started harvesting the 2024 crop. Combines from Muchkapsky and Rasskazovsky municipal districts were the first to start harvesting winter rye and wheat. This was reported by the regional Ministry of Agriculture.

Farmers of Tambov Oblast have started harvesting the 2024 crop. Combines from Muchkapsky and Rasskazovsky municipal districts were the first to start harvesting winter rye and wheat. This was reported by the regional Ministry of Agriculture.

On the first day, 60 hectares of peas were harvested (yield - 26 centners per hectare), 100 hectares of winter rye (yield - 17 centners per hectare), 300 hectares of winter wheat (yield - 33 centners per hectare). This is a low yield, which is explained by the negative impact of spring frosts on the condition of grain crops.

- The first day of harvesting showed that our forecasts for the yield after the May frosts are confirmed: it is lower than planned before sowing. However, insurance payments allowed farms to minimize financial losses this student database year. We worked together with the Ministry of Agriculture of Russia and the National Union of Agricultural Insurers to reimburse insurance payments to affected farms, - said Deputy Head of the Region - Minister of Agriculture Alena Sytova.

It should be noted that the total area under winter, spring grain and leguminous crops, including corn, is 1,051 thousand hectares. Winter wheat is sown on 381 thousand hectares, winter rye on 3.4 thousand hectares, spring wheat on 226 thousand hectares, peas on 62 thousand hectares, and barley on 196 thousand hectares.
