JAVIER ZAPATERO: ON THE INTERNET, DEMAND IS JUST A CLICK AWAY

Post by asimj1 »

"The current crisis has come in parallel with a digital revolution where the important thing is that each company focuses on developing its business by adapting to the needs of the consumer" said Javier Rodríguez Zapatero, president of Google Spain, at Movilfórum 2009.

Javier said that this crisis is synonymous with opportunity. In times of crisis, people are more concerned about getting information and the cheapest way to do it is through internet search engines (Google exceeds 2 billion searches a day), which is why the largest search engine in the world uses a trial-and-error philosophy whereby 99 acres data the consumer is the first to determine whether a product is really good or not. This is a great opportunity for companies that can put their offer on the internet, "where demand is just a click away and supply is everywhere", at costs close to zero and with very high effectiveness. Current skepticism leads consumers to compare prices before buying a product, which has caused e-commerce to grow by more than 39% in the last year, going from 5 million buyers to 9 million.

In this context, Google proposes the Cloud Computing model, the advantages of which are obvious, as it allows companies to scale quickly, depending on their needs, without having to add equipment, software or personnel. Through a public network, "cloud", clients can access on demand a large number of dynamically assigned computing resources, thus providing themselves with enormous storage and processing capacity without having to add machines, which is the main reason for the reduction in production costs.

"Google offers companies a service contract with security, storage capacity, cost reduction, agility, service improvement, competitive improvement and efficiency," says Rodríguez Zapatero.
