How to Reset WordPress Without Using a Plugin
As mentioned above, there are two main ways to reinstall WordPress .
In this section, we will explain how to perform a manual WordPress restore using Secure File Transfer Protocol (SFTP) .
Step 1: Delete the old database
First, you will need to log in to your phpMyAdmin , find your site’s current MySQL database , make a copy of it for safekeeping, and name it “WP backup [data]”.
Then you will need to delete the current database using the phpMyAdmin menu options.
Before deleting it, make a note of the exact name of the database - you will need to name your new database to match in the next step.
Step 2: Create a new database and reinstall WordPress
Still using phpMyAdmin, the next thing you will want to do is create a new database with the same name as the old one. At this point you will also need to set a username and password.
Be sure to write these credentials down in a safe place: you will need them to log in to the site later.
After creating a new database, you can run the WordPress installation script. This will start the famous five-minute installation process.
You can simply follow the wizard to automatically install WordPress.
Step 3: Restore WordPress from a Backup (Optional)
As mentioned above, you can also choose to restore WordPress from a backup instead of reinstalling it entirely.

First, you will need to install and activate the plugin . When you are ready to reset your WordPress database, in the Tools menu in the dashboard sidebar click Advanced WP Reset.
Then, select Initialize Database:

You will need to manually type the word reset in the confirmation box as shown above, to confirm that you want to reset the database.
This will automatically delete your old installation and set up a new one (so make sure you have a backup first).
