The salt mines in the Romanian city of Turda have been known since prehistoric times. The first mention of them appeared in 1075 after the city was conquered by the Hungarians. After many years of active development, the Salina Turda mine was closed in 1932. Recently, the giant salt mine was turned into the Museum of the History of Salt Mining and has become one of the popular attractions in Romania.

The Siena Cathedral was built on the initiative of the special database of Siena on the site of an old temple. It was to become a symbol of the city's strength and prosperity. The construction of the cathedral took place between 1215 and 1263, and the author of the project was Niccolò Pisano.
