We Are Social and Hootsuite presented the update of the Digital 2021 Global Overview Report and just as we made the Statistics of the digital situation of countries such as Mexico , Chile , Argentina and Colombia , we present below the analysis of the data from 2020 to 2021 in Brazil.
In this article, we will analyze the behavior and digital growth in Brazil, starting from the fact that it was one of the countries most affected by the Covid-19 pandemic during 2020.
The general state of mobile, Internet and social media use

In January 2021, Brazil's population totaled 213.3 million people, of which 87.2% live in urban areas.
The number of connected mobile devices in the country is 205.4 million, which constitutes 96.3% of the population.
In Brazil, 160 million people are connected to the Internet, that is, 75% of the total population. 70.3% of Brazilian Internet users actively use social networks. This percentage is slightly below the average of other countries such as Mexico and Argentina, where the population active on social networks represents 77.2% and 79.3% of Internet users respectively.

Brazil's population increased by 1.5 million (+0.7%) between January 2020 and January 2021.
Mobile connections showed a decrease of 1.3% (2.7 taiwan phone number million people). However, the percentage of Internet users increased by 6.4%, adding 9.6 million new users.
With an increase of 7.1%, Brazil adds 10 million new active users on different social media platforms.

In Brazil, the use of mobile devices by Internet users between 16 and 64 years of age is divided in percentage terms as follows:
Cell phones (any type): 98.7%.
Smartphones: 98.5%.
Phones without “smart” features: 8.6%.
Laptops and/or desktop computers (PC): 71.6%.
Tablets: 32,6%.
Smart TVs for watching online content (like Netflix): 27%.
Video game consoles: 33.3%.
Smart home devices: 5.5%.
Smart watches: 18.1%.
Virtual reality devices: 3.9%.
As for Brazilians’ preference for using cell phones, we have that; Brazilians buy more cell phones than Americans and they also use more apps than them. This was revealed by a survey conducted this year by Digital Turbine , a company that simplifies app and content discovery with on-device user experiences. According to this data, twenty-four percent have new devices (less than three months old) and only 19% of Brazilians have smartphones older than two years. Meanwhile, more than 1/3 of Americans have devices older than 2 years.

The time Brazilians spend per day connecting to different platforms or devices is divided as follows:
10 hours and 08 minutes connected to the Internet (almost one hour more than in 2019).
4 hours and 02 minutes watching TV (broadcast or streaming)
3 hours and 42 minutes using social networks.
3 hours and 13 minutes reading news (online or in print media).
1 hour and 52 minutes listening to music through streaming services.
57 minutes listening to the radio.
51 minutes listening to podcasts.
1 hour and 17 minutes a day playing console video games.
The general data from the report tells us that, calculating the daily internet usage time per country, Brazil ranks second with 10 hours and 8 minutes of daily internet usage per person, followed by Colombia with 10 hours and 7 minutes.
