ClearSale CEO Pedro Chiamulera tells the program "Conta Corrente" about his transition from Olympic athlete to entrepren

Post by shukla9966 »

Pedro, who was an athlete in the 1990s, competed in two Olympic Games, in Barcelona (1992) and Atlanta (1996), competing in the 400 and 110 meter hurdles. Chiamulera did not reach the podium at the Olympics, but he often says that he achieved one of the ultimate goals of a Brazilian athlete, which is to participate in the biggest sporting event in the world.

When asked about the reasons for his change from athlete to businessman during the interview, the entrepreneur said that his career as an athlete provided him with a scholarship to study in the USA, where he graduated in Computer Science. After finishing university, he returned to Brazil and, four years later, he left his career as an athlete.

“I already had a lot of entrepreneurship at home. My father was an email list france and I was motivated by the family’s example. Of course, it wasn’t easy at first, but the transition as a whole was smooth, because my training as an athlete helped me to persist in my dream.”

When ClearSale was founded 15 years ago, there were many difficulties, especially in terms of managing the company, which was a new topic for Pedro at the time. He also says that he lost 22 of the 25 employees he had at the time due to the internet boom in the mid-2000s. But this was overcome thanks to two important factors. The first was the lessons he learned during his life as an athlete, which taught him resilience, how to listen to “no” a lot, how to deal with insecurity and, most importantly, persistence in following his dreams. And the other crucial factor was the arrival of Bernardo Lustosa, who, with his statistician's mind and good administrator, helped organize and manage the company. Today, Bernardo is ClearSale's COO and one of the partners, along with Mauro Back, vice president of IT and People.

During the interview, Pedro also talked about ClearSale's complete anti-fraud management process, in addition to the strategies for 2016: consolidation in the North American market and in offline segments, such as Telecom companies, Insurance companies and Credit Card Issuers.
