How to Manually Add Google Fonts to WordPress
Google Fonts takes most of the work out of embedding font families into your website. It is an online font library that can be called into any web project like any other JS or CSS script.

In this section, I will show you how to manually integrate Google Fonts into a WordPress site.

Step 1: Find the Google Fonts you want to add to your website
To get started, browse the Google font directory and choose the font you want to use on your WordPress site. If you already have a specific font, you can simply search for it using the search box.

You can also filter fonts by category, languages, number of styles, weight, slant, and width, or sort them by date added, alphabetically, trending, or popularity.

Typically, fonts can be:

Serif ,or fonts with serifs ,small extensions at the ends of the letters that seem to accompany them and join them to each other, such as Times New Roman and Courier .
San Serif ,or sans serif fonts, such as Helvetica and Roboto .
Display , or fonts characterized by little free space between one letter and another. They are usually used for large headings, such as Lobster and Poiret One ;
Handwriting , or fonts that recall handwriting, such as Pacifico .
Monospace ,or fonts whose characters all have the same width. These are fonts, likeSource Code Pro .

One of the advantages of using Google Fonts ' interactive directory feature is that you can quickly preview the fonts you're interested in. Simply click in the font field box and type your text.

For the purposes of this tutorial, I'll opt for Open Sans .

Step 2: Add Google Fonts to the selection
Now that we know what font we are going to use, let's add it to our selection. You can do this by clicking in the font family box.

You can add as many font families as you want to your selection. Once you're ready, click the Selected Family icon at the top right of the screen to view your selection.
