Verifying your new domain with Google Search Console (GSC) informs Google of your domain name change.

In this case you will have to do two things:

Create a property for your new domain
Use the Google Search Console Change of Address tool
To get started, sign in to your existing Google Search Console account.

Click on the properties drop-down at the top left. And canadian email list choose " Add Property ".

"Add Property" button selected from Google Search Console menu
This way, you can follow the process of setting up GSC for your new domain.

"Domain" selected from the "Select Property Type" window in Google Search Console
If you need help with this process, check out our full guide on setting up Google Search Console .

Note

In the next step, we will use the Change of Address tool. For this to work, both Google Search Console properties (the old and new domain) must be configured as "Domain" and not "URL Prefix".

Once you have set up ownership of the new domain, switch back to ownership of the old domain. If you do not have GSC ownership for your old domain, you can skip this step.

From within your old domain's property in GSC, click on " Settings ". Then, click on " Address Change ".
