How data management works
Data management scoping guidelines govern the use of data management resources. Resources are temporary objects that enable a program to work with data management, and scoping guidelines establish when a resource can be shared by multiple programs or procedures.

Depending on the data management resource used, different levels of scope can be specified:

Call level: Occurs when the data management resource is connected to the created call stack entry.

Group level: Occurs when the data management resource is connected to the activation group associated with the program or procedure invocation that created the resource.

Job level: Occurs when the data management resource is attached to the job. Allows sharing of data management resources between programs running in different activation groups.
